Fredericksburg & The National Museum of the Pacific War

Get out of San Marcos for the day and enjoy another small jewel deep in the Heart of Texas: Fredericksburg. This small town is host to many unique experiences to include some great, unique streetside shops and some of the best German cuisine in the state. Best of all, Fredericksburg is home to the National Museum of the Pacific War, also known and the “Nimitz Museum”, due to its colocation to Admiral Chester Nimitz's birthplace and childhood home. The cost of the tour includes a day pass to the museum.

Lewis Air Legends - San Antonio, Texas

The convention host committee has arranged for a special, private tour of the famous Lewis Air Legends in San Antonio, Texas. This collection consists of over two-dozen warbirds and related aircraft restored to perfect flying condition. This tour will include a personal guide in the hanger where these aircraft are stored and maintained. Lewis Air Legends is not currently open to the public so take advantage of this rare opportunity to see these beautiful aircraft up close.

Please note: photography is restricted in the hangers. Photos of the restored warbirds are allowed but only under the instruction and supervision of the collection staff. Please follow all instructions when on the premises.

Transportation

Airport Shuttle

The convention hosts have arranged to run a 55-seat coach betwen Austin-Bergstrom Intl Airport and the convention hotels. This shuttle will run on both Tuesday, August 1st and Wednesday, August 2nd. Both days the shuttle will run from 12:00 noon to 8:00 PM in the evening. The pick-up point will be outside bottom-floor of the terminal, outside from the baggage claim in the shuttle bus pick-up area. The bus will drop off members at the convention hotel of their choice: Embassy Suites, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, or the Candlewood Suites.

Local Loop Shuttle

The convention hosts have also arranged to run a local shuttle bus between the Embassy Suites, all 3 overflow hotels, downtown San Marcos, and the Tanger & Premium Outlet Mall just to the south of the convention center/hotel.

The shuttle will run on Wednesday through Saturday from noon to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, and from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Thursday and Friday, and from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday.
